॥ दोहा ॥
बंशी शोभित कर मधुर, नील जलद तन श्याम।
अरुण अधर जनु बिम्बा फल, पिताम्बर शुभ साज॥bd॥
आपके हाथ में मधुर बांसुरी शोभा देती है, और आपका शरीर वर्षा के मेघ के समान श्यामवर्ण है।
आपके होंठ बिंब फल जैसे लाल हैं, और आप पीताम्बर (पीला वस्त्र) धारण किए हुए हैं।
जय मनमोहन मदन छवि, कृष्णचन्द्र महाराज।
करहु कृपा हे रवि तनय, राखहु जन की लाज॥bd॥
हे मन को मोह लेने वाले श्री कृष्ण! आपकी छवि कामदेव को भी मोहित कर देती है।
हे सूर्य के पुत्र! कृपा करें और अपने भक्तों की इज्जत बनाएं रखें।
॥ चौपाई ॥
जय यदुनन्दन जय जगवन्दन। जय वसुदेव देवकी नन्दन।
जय यशुदा सुत नन्द दुलारे। जय प्रभु भक्तन के दृग तारे॥bd॥
जय हो यदु वंश के नंदन (पुत्र) को, जो पूरे जगत में पूजित हैं।
जय हो वसुदेव और देवकी के पुत्र को।
जय हो यशोदा के बेटे नंद के प्यारे को।
जय हो प्रभु को, जो भक्तों की आँखों का तारा हैं।
जय नट-नागर नाग नथैया। कृष्ण कन्हैया धेनु चरैया।
पुनि नख पर प्रभु गिरिवर धारो। आओ दीनन कष्ट निवारो॥bd॥
जय हो उस नट (नर्तक), नागों के मालिक नागनथ के।
कृष्ण कन्हैया जो गाय चराते हैं।
जो नख (नाखून) पर गिरिवर पर्वत धारण करते हैं।
हे प्रभु, आएं और दीनों के दुःख दूर करें।
वंशी मधुर अधर धरी तेरी। होवे पूर्ण मनोरथ मेरो।
आओ हरि पुनि माखन चाखो। आज लाज भारत की राखो॥bd॥
आपके होंठों पर मधुर बांसुरी है, हे प्रभु। मेरे सभी मनोकामनाएं पूरी करें।
आओ हे हरि, फिर से माखन चखो और आज भारत (हम भक्तों) की लाज बचाओ।
गोल कपोल, चिबुक अरुणारे। मृदु मुस्कान मोहिनी डारे।
रंजित राजिव नयन विशाला। मोर मुकुट वैजयंती माला॥bd॥
आपके गाल गोल हैं, ठोड़ी लालिमा लिए हुई है। आपकी कोमल मुस्कान मोहिनी सी है।
आपके बड़े कमल जैसे नयन लालिमा लिए हुए हैं। आपके सिर पर मोर का मुकुट और वैजयंती माला है।
कुण्डल श्रवण पीतपट आछे। कटि किंकणी काछन काछे।
नील जलज सुन्दर तनु सोहे। छवि लखि, सुर नर मुनिमन मोहे॥bd॥
आपके कानों में कुंडल (बाली) हैं, पीले वस्त्र और कमर में घंटियाँ (किंकणी) लगी हैं।
आपका नीला कमल समान शरीर सुंदर लगता है। आपकी छवि देखकर देवता, मनुष्य और मुनि मोहित हो जाते हैं।
मस्तक तिलक, अलक घुंघराले। आओ कृष्ण बाँसुरी वाले।
करि पय पान, पुतनहि तारयो। अका बका कागासुर मारयो॥bd॥
आपके माथे पर तिलक लगा है और आपके घुंघराले बाल सुंदर हैं।
हे बांसुरी वाले कृष्ण! आएं।
आपने दूध पिया, पुतना का उद्धार किया और राक्षसों अका, बका, कागासुर का संहार किया।
मधुवन जलत अग्नि जब ज्वाला। भै शीतल, लखितहिं नन्दलाला।
सुरपति जब ब्रज चढ़यो रिसाई। मसूर धार वारि वर्षाई॥bd॥
जब मधुवन में आग लगी थी, तब आपके दर्शन से वह ठंडी हो गई।
जब इंद्र देव ने ब्रज पर प्रलय की वर्षा की, तब आपने उसे शांत किया।
लगत-लगत ब्रज चहन बहायो। गोवर्धन नखधारि बचायो।
लखि यसुदा मन भ्रम अधिकाई। मुख महं चौदह भुवन दिखाई॥bd॥
लगातार तेज बारिश से ब्रज डूबने लगा, आप नाखून पर गोवर्धन पर्वत उठाकर ब्रजवासियों को बचाए।
जब यशोदा ने आपका मुख देखा तो उसमें सारे 14 लोक दिखाई दिए और उनका भ्रम दूर हुआ।
दुष्ट कंस अति उधम मचायो। कोटि कमल जब फूल मंगायो।
नाथि कालियहिं तब तुम लीन्हें। चरणचिन्ह दै निर्भय किन्हें॥bd॥
दुष्ट कंस ने बहुत उत्पात मचाया और आपसे करोड़ों कमल के फूल मंगाए।
तब आपने कालिया नाग को हराया और अपने चरण चिन्ह देकर निर्भय (निर्भीक) बनाया।
करि गोपिन संग रास विलासा। सबकी पूरण करी अभिलाषा।
केतिक महा असुर संहारयो। कंसहि केस पकड़ि दै मारयो॥bd॥
आपने गोपियों के साथ रासलीला की और सभी भक्तों की मनोकामनाएं पूरी कीं।
आपने कई बड़े असुरों का संहार किया, कंस को पकड़कर मार दिया।
मात-पिता की बन्दि छुड़ाई। उग्रसेन कहं राज दिलाई।
महि से मृतक छहों सुत लायो। मातु देवकी शोक मिटायो॥bd॥
आपने अपने माता-पिता को जेल से छुड़ाया और उनके पिता उग्रसेन को राजा बनवाया।
आपने सभी छह पुत्रों को मृत्यु से बचाया और माता देवकी का शोक दूर किया।
भौमासुर मुर दैत्य संहारी। लाये षट दश सहसकुमारी।
दै भिन्हीं तृण चीर सहारा। जरासिंधु राक्षस कहं मारा॥bd॥
आपने भौमासुर, मुर और अन्य दैत्यों का संहार किया।
आपने छः, दस या हजार कन्याओं को बचाया।
आपने तृण चीर की मदद से जरासिंधु राक्षस को मारा।
असुर बकासुर आदिक मारयो। भक्तन के तब कष्ट निवारियो।
दीन सुदामा के दुःख टारयो। तंदुल तीन मूंठ मुख डारयो॥bd॥
आपने असुरों जैसे बकासुर का वध किया और भक्तों के दुख दूर किए।
अपने मित्र सुदामा के दुःख दूर किए, उसके मुँह में तीन मुठ्ठी चावल डाले।
प्रेम के साग विदुर घर मांगे। दुर्योधन के मेवा त्यागे।
लखि प्रेम की महिमा भारी। ऐसे श्याम दीन हितकारी॥bd॥
प्रेम से भरे साग विदुर ने आपके घर माँग की, पर दुर्योधन के मेवे को छोड़ दिया।
ऐसे श्याम जी की प्रेम की महिमा बहुत बड़ी है, जो दीनों के हितैषी हैं।
भारत के पारथ रथ हांके। लिए चक्र कर नहिं बल ताके।
निज गीता के ज्ञान सुनाये। भक्तन हृदय सुधा वर्षाये॥bd॥
भारत (अर्जुन) के रथ को कृष्ण ने चलाया, उन्होंने चक्र पकड़ा पर बल का सहारा नहीं लिया।
आपने गीता का ज्ञान दिया और भक्तों के हृदय में अमृत वर्षा की।
मीरा थी ऐसी मतवाली। विष पी गई बजाकर ताली।
राना भेजा सांप पिटारी। शालिग्राम बने बनवारी॥bd॥
मीरा इतनी भक्तिमय थीं कि विष पीकर भी ताली बजाई।
राणा ने साँप भेजा पर वह सांप शालिग्राम (श्रीकृष्ण का रूप) बन गया।
निज माया तुम विधिहिं दिखायो। उर ते संशय सकल मिटायो।
तब शत निन्दा करी तत्काला। जीवन मुक्त भयो शिशुपाला॥bd॥
आपने अपनी माया दिखाकर सारे संशय हृदय से मिटा दिए।
तब आपके ऊपर हुई सभी निन्दा खत्म हुई, और शिशुपाल का जीवन मुक्त हुआ।
जबहिं द्रौपदी टेर लगाई। दीनानाथ लाज अब जाई।
तुरतहिं वसन बने नन्दलाला। बढ़े चीर भै अरि मुँह काला॥bd॥
जब द्रौपदी ने आपकी मदद मांगी, तब दीननाथ (आप) ने उनकी लाज बचाई।
नंदलाला तुरंत कपड़े बन गए और शत्रुओं का मुँह काला हो गया।
अस नाथ के नाथ कन्हैया। डूबत भंवर बचावत नैया।
सुंदरदास आस उर धारी। दयादृष्टि कीजै बनवारी॥bd॥
हे अस (असुर) नाथ के नाथ कन्हैया, आप डूबती नाव को बचाते हैं।
सुंदरदास आपकी आस है, कृपा दृष्टि करें बनवारी।
नाथ सकल मम कुमति निवारो। क्षमहु बेगि अपराध हमारो।
खोलो पट अब दर्शन दीजै। बोलो कृष्ण कन्हैया की जय॥bd॥
हे नाथ, मेरी सारी कुमति दूर करें। मेरे अपराधों को जल्दी क्षमा करें।
अब पर्दा खोलकर मुझे दर्शन दीजिए, बोलो — कृष्ण कन्हैया की जय।

यह चालीसा कृष्ण का, पाठ करै उर धारि।
अष्ट सिद्धि नवनिधि फल, लहै पदारथ चारि॥bd॥
यह चालीसा श्री कृष्ण की है, जो इसे पढ़ता है और मन में धारण करता है,
उसे आठ सिद्धियां और नौ निधियां प्राप्त होती हैं, और चारों प्रकार के भौतिक सुख मिलते हैं।

Banshi shobhit kar madhur, neel jalad tan Shyam।
Arun adhar janu bimba phal, pitambar shubh saaj॥bd॥
(You hold a sweet-sounding flute that beautifully adorns your hands,Your body is dark like rain-filled clouds.
Your lips are red like the bimba fruit,You wear a holy yellow garment (pitambar) which looks auspicious.)
Jai Manmohan Madan chhavi, Krishnachandra Maharaj।
Karahu kripa hey Ravi tanay, raakhahu jan ki laaj॥bd॥
(Victory to the enchantress of hearts, the charming Madan’s form, Lord Krishna, the moon among the Krishnas.
O son of the Sun (Ravi), please shower your grace and protect the honor of your devotees.)

Jai Yadunandan Jai Jagvandan। Jai Vasudev Devki Nandan॥
Jai Yashuda sut Nand dulare। Jai Prabhu bhaktan ke drig taare॥bd॥
Hail to Yadunandan (son of Yadu), hail to the beloved of the world.
Hail to Vasudev, the son of Devaki.
Hail to the son of Yashoda, the darling of Nanda Maharaj.
Hail to the Lord, the guiding star for devotees.
Jai Nat-Nagar Naag Nathaiya। Krishna Kanhaiya Dhenu Charaiya॥
Puni nakh par Prabhu Girivar dhaaro। Aao deenan kasht nivaaro॥bd॥
Hail to the Lord of dancers and snakes, the serpent king.
Krishna Kanhaiya, the caretaker of cows.
Lord holds the Govardhan mountain on his finger.
Come to relieve the suffering of the helpless.
Banshi madhur adhar dhari teri। Hove poorn manorath mero॥
Aao Hari puni maakhan chaakho। Aaj laaj Bharat ki raakho॥bd॥
(You hold the flute with sweet lips,
May all my wishes be fulfilled.
Come, O Hari, taste the butter again,
Today, protect the honor of Bharat (India).)
Gol kapol, chibuk arunaare। Mridu muskaan mohini daare॥
Ranjit rajiv nayan vishaala। Mor mukut Vaijayanti maala॥bd॥
(Round cheeks and red lips,
Soft smile that enchants.
Eyes radiant like the lotus flower,
Wearing a peacock feather crown and a Vaijayanti garland.
)
Kundal shravan, peetpat aachhe। Kati kinkani kaachhan kaachhe॥
Neel jalaj sundar tanu sohe। Chhavi lakhi, sur nar muniman mohe॥bd॥
(Earrings in the ears and yellow cloth,
Anklets around the waist.
Your beautiful body is like a blue lotus,
Your form captivates gods, humans, and sages.)
Mastak tilak, alakh ghoonghraale। Aao Krishna baansuri waale॥
Kari pay paan, Putanahi taarayo। Aka baka Kaagasur maarayo॥bd॥
(A tilak on your forehead and curly hair,
Come, Krishna, the flute player.
You drank poison to save others,
Killed demons Aka, Baka, and Kaagasur.)
Madhuban jalat agni jab jwala। Bhayi sheetal, lakhitahi Nandalala॥
Surapati jab Braj chadhyo risaayi। Masoor dhaar vaari varshaayi॥bd॥
(When the forest was burning with fire,
You cooled it, O Nandalala (son of Nanda).
When the Lord of gods got angry in Braj,
You poured water to cool his anger.)
Lagat-lagat Braj chahan bahaayo। Govardhan nakhdhaari bachaayo॥
Lakhi Yasuda man bhram adhikaayi। Mukh mah chaudah bhuvan dikhaayi॥bd॥
(You caused the Braj people to cry tears of joy,
Saved Govardhan mountain with your nails.
Yashoda’s mind was filled with wonder,
When you showed her the universe in your mouth.)
Dusht Kans ati udham machaayo। Koti kamal jab phool mangaayo॥
Naath Kaaliyahin tab tum leenhe। Charanchinh dai nirbhay keenhe॥bd॥
(The evil Kans created much havoc,
But you defeated millions of demons like blooming lotuses.
You took on the serpent Kaliya,
Giving your footprints to the fearless.)
Kari Gopin sang raas vilaasa। Sabki poorn kari abhilasha॥
Ketak maha asur sanhaarayo। Kansahi kes pakad dai maarayo॥bd॥
(You danced the divine Raas with the Gopis,
Fulfilling everyone’s wishes.
You destroyed many great demons,
And killed Kans by grabbing his hair.)
Maat-pita ki bandi chhudaayi। Ugrasen kahin raaj dilaayi॥
Mahi se mrtak chhah sut laaye। Maatu Devki shok mitaaye॥bd॥
(You freed your parents from captivity,
And installed Ugrasen as king.
You brought back to life six dead sons,
And removed the grief of mother Devaki.)
Bhaumaasur Mur daitya sanhaari। Laaye shat dash sahas kumaari॥
Dai bhinhi trin cheer sahaara। Jarasindhu raakshas kahin maara॥bd॥
(You killed demons like Bhaumasur, Mur, and Daityas,
And brought back one hundred and ten thousand princesses.
You split the earth into three parts for support,
And killed the demon Jarasandha.)
Asur Bakasur aadik maarayo। Bhaktan ke tab kasht nivariyo॥
Deen Sudaama ke dukh taaryo। Tandul teen moonth mukh daaryo॥bd॥
(You killed demons like Bakasur,
Relieving the suffering of your devotees.
You alleviated the poverty of your friend Sudama,
Giving him three handfuls of rice.)
Prem ke saag Vidur ghar maange। Duryodhan ke meva tyaage॥
Lakhi prem ki mahima bhaari। Aise Shyam deen hitkaari॥bd॥
(Vidur asked for leaves of love,
While Duryodhan gave up fruits.
This shows the greatness of love,
Such is Shyam, the benefactor of the poor.)
Bhaarat ke Paarth rath haanke। Liye chakr kar nahin bal taanke॥
Nij Geeta ke gyaan sunaaye। Bhaktan hriday sudha varshaaye॥bd॥
(You drove Arjuna’s chariot in Bharat (India),
Holding the discus, but never using your strength forcibly.
You taught the knowledge of the Gita,
Pouring nectar into devotees’ hearts.)
Meera thi aisi matwaali। Vish pee gayi bajaakar taali॥
Raana bheja saanp pitaari। Shaaligraam bane Banwaari॥bd॥
(Meera was so devoted that she drank poison,
While playing music and clapping hands.
Rana sent a snake in a basket,
But you appeared as Shaligram (a sacred stone).)
Nij maaya tum vidhi dikhayo। Ur te sanshay sakal mitaayo॥
Tab shat ninda kari tatkaala। Jeevan mukt bhayo Shishupaala॥bd॥
(You showed your divine illusion (maya) properly,
And removed all doubts from the heart.
When thousand insults were hurled at you,
Shishupala attained liberation immediately.)
Jabahi Draupadi ter lagaayi। Deenanaath laaj ab jaayi॥
Turatahi vasan bane Nandalala। Badhe cheer bhay ari munh kaala॥bd॥
(When Draupadi invoked you,
The Lord of the poor (Krishna) saved her honor.
Nandalala (Krishna) immediately wore clothes,
The enemies were scared and their faces turned dark.)
As Naath ke Naath Kanhaiya। Doobat bhanwar bachaavat naiya॥
Sundardaas aas ur dhaari। Daya drishti keejai Banwaari॥bd॥
(O Lord of Lords, Kanhaiya,
Save the boat that is sinking in the whirlpool.
Sundardas holds hope in his heart,
O Banwari (Krishna), please show mercy.)
Naath sakal mam kumati nivaaro। Kshamahu begi apraadh hamaaro॥
Kholo pat ab darshan deejai। Bolo Krishna Kanhaiya ki jai॥bd॥
(O Lord, remover of all my bad thoughts,
Please forgive my mistakes quickly.
Unveil the curtain and give me your vision now,
Say hail to Krishna Kanhaiya!)
॥ Doha ॥
Yah Chaalisa Krishna ka, paath karai ur dhaari।
Asht siddhi navnidhi phal, lahe padaarath chaari॥bd॥
(This is Krishna’s Chalisa; whoever recites and keeps it in their heart,
Will attain the eight supernatural powers (Asht Siddhi), the nine treasures (Nav Nidhi), and all the four goals of life (Padaarath).)
